The Columbo detective series (1968–2003) and a legendary “dark crime thriller” of Czech provenance became a point of departure for two film reflections by the winner of the Jindřich Chalupecký Prize 2014. The films will be presented by the artist.

Roman Štětina was born in Kadaň in 1986. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in 2015 after spending two years on the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main in the classes Judith Hopf and Douglas Gordon. Recent solo shows include: Instruction for Use od Jiří Kolář (with Miroslav Buriánek), Spike Island, Bristol; Shave and a haircut – two bits, Cardiff Contemporary, curated by Louise Hobson; The Fortress of Solitude from the holy wood of eternal noise (with Larisa Sitar), MNAC Bucharest, curated by Anca V. Mihulet. His films and video works were presented at LUX London, Anthology Film Archive (NYC), International Film Festival Karlovy Vary (CZ), goEAST—Festival of Central and Eastern European Film in Wiesbaden (DE), Bosse & Baum London, Close-Up Film Centre London, PAF Olomouc (CZ), Delfina Art Foundation London, etc.
He focuses on sound in connection with visual art. His work is shown nationally and internationally and he lives and works in Prague, Czech Republic.
