Projection of two 16-mm experimental films by leading protagonists of the Czech conceptual and formal cinema, with the participation of the director of Heidegger in Auschwitz, filmmaker Martin Ježek.

Heidegger in Auschwitz (2016, CR)

The German philosopher Martin Heidegger, one of the most important thinkers of the 20th century, goes 40 years after his death on an excursion to Auschwitz. During his visit he takes about 2500 photos. On his way back he visits Prague, where his attention is drawn to the last runners in a marathon reminding him of a march of death. The following winter his Jewish lover Hannah Arendt, one of the most important thinkers of the 20th century, leaves her grave as well. They wander aimlessly with a 16-mm camera in the surroundings of Heidegger’s cottage inTodtnaumberg. Arendt experiences some motives from the key work of the great philosopher, Being and Time. Everything is arranged in a strictly structural form. The static is in motion, the kinetic is motionless.

Wet Wedding (2017, CR)

Film is dead! The only thing left to do is to go back 2500 years when Heraclitus’s dark, analogical thinking preserved in fragments was taking shape. We start from the beginning, which is the production of our own film emulsion. The story of the emulsion is the story of the film. The emulsion is thus the score, director, sound engineer, protagonist and antagonist.
