On a small surface, we try to sketch a picture made of the answers to the questions we ask ourselves about the artists and art collectives whose work is closely related to a specific region. Should they stay, or should they go? Are their starting conditions or sparse cultural infrastructure a handicap, or can such circumstances provide artists a chance to slow down in the long run, a quality of life that is not measured by performance? How can artists combine shortcuts leading to success with more difficult strategies that may or may not be related to the phenomenon of being an outsider? We also want to capture the diversity of the broader Ostrava scene, at least in part, and to underline its relation to music production and how that is connected to other kinds of artistic expression.
The exhibition is part of a long-term project called On Current Issues of Local Resources.
